Dectris manufactures advanced electronic equipment, such as x-ray and electrons detectors.
Customers commission highly personalized machines that must be manufactured and proofed against complex requirements.
To handle complex sub-assembly chains of production, while ensuring that products meet the highest quality standards, Camptocamp has developed for Dectris the following features;
1. Efficient quality control management: custom work order re-injection for optimized planning
- Standard feature: when the output of a work order fails a quality check, the work order is cancelled.
- Custom behavior: when the output of a work order fails a quality check, it is cancelled AND it becomes possible to re-inject a new work order (a copy of the original or of any other) in the chain of work orders.
After this insertion, the planning is correctly impacted to reflect the new sequence of work orders.
- Added values:
*Time Savings: The ability to re-inject a new work order upon quality check failure reduces processing time, ensuring smoother production flows.
*Enhanced Planning Flexibility: Custom re-injection allows adjustments to the work order chain while maintaining accurate planning sequences.
2. Enhancing transparency in the supply chain: component-based serialization
- Standard feature: a finished product will be automatically serialized based on a generic and incremental sequence.
- Custom behavior: a finished product can be automatically serialized based on the serial number of one of its components.
- Added values:
*streamline traceability, increase supply chain transparency,
* meet with some industrial regulatory requirements.
3. Expanding production horizons: leveraging by-products to deliver multiple finished products in a single order.
- Standard feature: by-products are not the focus of a manufacturing order (since they are produced incidentally of processing the main product). They are considered as waste or basic materials that do not require their own components.
- Custom behavior: the by-product functionality is leveraged to make additional products. Those products have their own BoMs, meaning that they have their own components that must be procured. This way, multiple finished products are produced as a result of a single manufacturing order.
- Added values:
* Resource planning: ensuring that the proper resources are replenished to produce additional products (=by-products)
* Reduced complexity: Managing a single manufacturing order with multiple products can be less complex than managing separate orders for each product
